Buying software is not a charity

You don't buy software to support the author. You buy it because it solves your problem. Somehow along the way, we forgot that in this business no one cares about you.

An interesting talk by seth godin, No one gives a damn about you.

Seth Godin - All Marketers are liars.

It's not just in software. When I see buy it to support the maker it is the exact same thing. You don't buy food to support your grocer, you buy it cause you gotta eat.

You don't buy music to support the artist, you buy it to listen to the song. We need to retire this idea that we are in a charity business. If someone makes something you like, then buy it. If not, you don't owe them anything.

You use software because it allows you to do your work better and nothing else.
